So glad to have found this. I first read Two Serious Ladies about 40 years ago; then 20 years ago I bought an old house in Baltimore, where one of the five reasons I bought the house is the cast plaster medallion on the living room (parlor) ceiling — two very serious ladies’ heads, surrounded by scrolls, and centered by a ship’s helm. Working on a NANOWRIMO novel right now and the two main characters are conjoined twins. I guess the struggle to be one at the same time you’re two is very interesting to me, though I’m not a twin, nor part of a couple. I enjoy reading intelligent analysis of things I’ve enjoyed reading as I, myself, am only good at synthesis. Thanks.
