I had exactly the same response to the end of this book as the reviewer. The last pages are devoted to mindless violence (that didn’t actually happen) and by this Burns seems to be making some sort of critique of the violent ending of the movement – that in the end it all boiled down to macho posturing. I doubt these events actually happened so it’s an odd conclusion
