All the best Browne scholarship in the 20th century is American! j.S.Finch’s 1950 book (who i corresponded with) as is Frank Huntley’s 1959 book. All of Pseudodoxia and major works available at the excellent Penelope site of Chicago University, well-annotated.
Urn-Burial usually considered his greatest literary work stylistically. Cyrus the least understood.
Visit my Browne-centred blog for essays on Browne, alchemy and Jung, his relationship to Julian of Norwich and Prayer and prophecy in his life. Enough self-promotion!
Always good to read new impressions of Browne. A link on my blog ‘Beauty for Ashes’ has some nice appreciative praise of Browne’s liberal theology and again yet another example of how receptive American readers are to the worthy 17th c. physician of my home-City!
